Movies and Books

Do you ever wonder where movie ideas come from?  Many of today's movies are original ideas and some are remakes of older movies.  Others are film adaptations of books.  For example, these December releases all came from books:  Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (book by John Le Carre); The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (by Stieg Larsson); We Bought a Zoo (by Benjamin Mee); and War Horse (by Michael Morpurgo).  Even the new Sherlock Holmes movies, while in some ways completely different from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's tales, have their origins in his characters.

Find these and other books which have been made into movies @ your library!

Time for Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is upon us already.  For those of you in need of last minute ideas for Thursday's dinner, come on in to the library today or tomorrow to see what our more than 150 cookbooks have to offer.

We will be open on Friday if you need help figuring out what to do with all of your Thanksgiving leftovers.

The entire month of November is Native American Heritage Month.  Come to the library to learn more about native cultures here and in the rest of the world.  Remember, at your library, the world is at your fingertips.

Three years later....

Ok, we know it's not 2008, but instead 2011, so we're going to try this once again.  Perhaps now we can get our act together and use this blog.  Wish us luck!  And, feel free to contribute any ideas for what you would like to see here.
